“I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful - an endless prospect of magic and wonder." -Ansel Adams
My earliest memories are of watching the motion of dust particles in a ray of sunlight. My first experiments with photography started when I was ten and I accidentally double exposed a roll of film and was fascinated by the unintended results.
Inspired by Imogen Cunningham, Ansel Adams and Jane Goodall and the Life Library of Photography, I continued to practice and study photographic technique throughout my life.
When I was 18, I traveled to Mexico and South America where I studied Indigenous medicinal plant use and folk art. Later I traveled and busked as a juggler in the U.S and Europe. I continued to pursue my interest and experimentation observing and creating visual rhythms and patterns while I completed a Masters In Counseling Psychology with a focus on Art Therapy. I lived in Australia for 20 years where the incredible light reignited my love of nature photography and videography.
Now my daily image practice is to notice what I notice in the environment and then be still and observe closely. This process has allowed me to see new-to-me things everyday: an unusual insect egg, a native bee cleaning itself, or a clam “walking” along a beach.
“Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns, so each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry.” -Richard Feynman
